Our curriculum framework is not a syllabus or a prescriptive program of work, but instead defines the approaches to learning, pedagogy, and assessment common to all grades. Consequently, it supports continuity in learning for students moving through our school and is characterized by the following five key components:

Curriculum Overview

Curriculum areas
Academic disciplines comprising distinct sets of knowledge, understanding and skills.

Transdisciplinary learning
Skills common to several disciplines. Discipline-specific skills with applications in other curriculum areas. 21st century skills.

Conceptual understanding
The mastery of big ideas in every discipline. Concepts allow students to see the bigger picture behind a specific issue and to build links between different concepts and ideas.

Pedagogy
An approach to teaching and learning that allows students to acquire new levels of understanding as opposed to the simple memorisation of content.

Assessment
Formative assessment allows teachers to plan the subsequent teaching and learning activities effectively.
